Excelsior was contacted a few months ago with sad news that ‘Roly’ Robertson had sadly passed away, Roly was an excellent supporter of Excelsior auction’s and he purchased many very good pigeons from our sales over the past number of years.
He had steadily built an extremely talented collection of pigeons built around pigeons from all the modern main sprint champions and bought the very best, including pigeons from , JPS Lofts, Michael Collins, Kevin Moran’s total clearance sale, Ron Hillcoat, A & L Painter, R & D Hunt, Richardson & Son’s, Bosliven, Munslow Lofts, & P & D Stud.
These pigeons will now be offered once again on Excelsior over the following weeks.
Roland was a pigeon fancier most of his life, racing and breeding pigeons were his passion.
His late brother Les shared the same passion and under the famous partnership of Robertson Brothers of Percy Main they were hugely successful, winning many racing pigeon trophies in the North East of England.
Always wanting to stay ahead and never one to be left behind, Roland was so keen on his racing that he made several trips to Holland to buy the best breed of pigeons which resulted in many race wins. He was successful with any and every breed he was associated with.
As Roland's focus switched to breeding he spent most of his time in his loft caring for and admiring the many fantastic stock birds he had bought from top breeders.
A pigeon fancier who strived for the best and bought the best. A pigeon lover until the end.
