WEST MIDLAND WINGS – RESULTS 06/07/19 – by Sarah Carter
Hello everyone, I hope you’ve all had a great week… and that the young birds have kept safe , out of troubles and being prepared for the first races that are looming up, I all too often read that people are having a terrible time with losses with their young birds, I know that the hawks are terrorising our pigeons every day, which leaves a lot of them diving for cover and then they end up spending time out before hopefully making their way home, I also think it’s such a busy time in the sky’s at the moment with inexperienced pigeons , these two factors alone must have a big impact on the losses people are seeing, they are babies let’s not forget and they have to learn somehow, I’m just shocked with the amount of young birds that are being lost now , I’m sure in writing that the RPRA one loft race has had a massive hit with only seeming to be 900 birds being trained from the initial 1400 that started the season only a couple of months ago., which is terrible… where do they all go , for those that are braving the perils daily to train your birds I wish you all the very best of luck with them , keep smiling and think positive with them, now to the results.

Steve Jeavons from Chase Social FC dropped me a text, he was kind enough to send me there club results and also enjoyed the article on Ron Green,
Morning Sarah I must say you write up is excellent I enjoyed reading about Ron Green and brake away it was at Earl's court pigeon show in the early 80s were I met Ron Green when I went there with Chris Cattel and we saw Dean Pallet go walking through with a gang of men following him funny how these things bring back memories and I have to say it was a pleasure to sit and talk to Ron all those years ago when I was in my early 20s ; I’m glad it brought back some happy memories there for you Steve,

1st Marsh & Gallear with a 2 year old cheq hen with a vel of 1184, 2nd & 3rd Dr Mruk with two blue yearling hens the first winning the nom £40, back to Marsh & Gallear for 4th place with a 5 year old cheq hen well that's it for the club old bird racing this year. I have to say well done to Marsh & Gallear who have got over 60 points in the old bird season almost twice as many as anybody else and there ace masters at young bird racing, last year they were highest prize winners with over 100 points and it lucks like they’re going to beat that this year I think it's worth pointing out that the marsh part of the partnership past away many years ago and Dave Gallear has flown on his own ever since and kept the name going. Well that's it from me this week Sarah enjoy the rest of the weekend.
